Afrobasket: D’Tigress blow-out Tunisia 75-26

D’Tigress began their Afrobasket title defence on a winning note defeating Tunisia 75-26 in their opening game on Saturday, Sports Extra reports.

The defending champions started off on a bright note edging Tunisia 14-6 in the first quarter.

Otis Hughley’s side improved on their first quarter, extending their lead in the second quarter to 26-4.

In the third quarter, the three-time winners of the AfroBasket won 17-5 before they ended the game 18-11 in the fourth quarter.

Evelyn Akhator scored her first double-double of the tournament racking in 13 points, 10 rebounds and two assists, while Atonye Nyingifa scored 12 points and four rebounds.

Jasmine Nwajei also bagged seven points and seven assists. Hughley’s ladies will face Cameroon in their next game on Tuesday.
