CS Amina Mohammed, Julie Gichuru listed among top 100 most influential African Women

The Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Heritage Dr Amina Mohammed has been named in the Avance Media’s list of 100 Most Influential African Women.

Other Kenyan women who joined Amina in the list are: American based Kenyan Actress Lupita Nyong’o, BBC Africa News Anchor Sophie Ikenye, Julie Gichuru of Acumen Communications, CEO of Citi East Africa Joyce-Ann Wainaina, and Africa 50’s Carole Wainaina.

Apart from governance featuring notable dignitaries among them President, Vice President, Prime Minister, First Lady, Governors, Ministers and Commissioners, the list also features women in business leadership, philanthropy, diplomacy, education, entrepreneurships, legal, media and sports.

Some of the eminent leaders in the list are Namibia’s Prime Minister Rt.Hon. Dr Saara Kuugongelwa, United Nations Deputy Secretary General H.E. Amina J Mohammed, former President H.E. Ellen Sirleaf and Ethiopia’s President H.E. Sahle-Work Zewede.

The list features distinguished African women who have inspired the next generation of African women through their works and contributions. According to Avance Media Managing Director, Prince Akpah, the list has a representation from 35 African countries whose women are changing the feminine story and the status quo of women in Africa.
