The Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) under the leadership of newly elected president Levi Nedd has started preparations early for the 2019 National and International season.
Nedd, a long serving Volleyball stalwart with over four decades of involvement in the game both as a player and Official, recently oversaw preparations to select National U21 male and female teams.
Guyana is expected to send teams to participate in a tournament to be held in French Guiana in February of 2019. The first round of trials was held at the National Gymnasium on Sunday and according to the GVF President the turnout was great.
At the end of the trials a set of players were shortlisted and according to Nedd further shortlisting will be done. Nedd, who is also the President of the Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA), stated that the invitation was extended to the BVA, but they thought it best to include all of Guyana, for the exposure and development of the game.
The trials were convened by Levi Nedd, GVF Vice President Rodney Fredericks and Errol Fingall. The opportunity was also taken to gather bio data information from players, with the intention of creating players profile for future reference and to track their performance and development.
