Centuries from Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma propelled India to a second thumping victory over Pakistan inside five days and to the brink of the Asia Cup final.

Dhawan (114) and Rohit (111 not out) shared an opening stand of 210 in 33.3 overs in Dubai to thoroughly break the back of their pursuit of 238 for a nine-wicket win, secured with 63 balls to spare.

Pakistan, beaten by eight wickets on Wednesday, were indebted to veteran Shoaib Malik's 78 as they posted 237 for seven, with Indian paceman Jasprit Bumrah and spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal each taking two wickets.

Pakistan's hopes of defending their total were hindered by Rohit being dropped on 14 and 81, and India's captain went past 7,000 one-day international runs as his side claimed their second Super Four victory.


The victory means India have booked their place in the Asia Cup final on Friday after Bangladesh beat Afghanistan.

Pakistan will now go on to face Bangladesh to see who will face India next week for the chance to win the Asia Cup.

Pakistan currently lead the Tigers on net run rate.
