Windsor boss Mick Woodham has urged his players to ‘buck their ideas up’ and finish the season strongly after they suffered back-to-back defeats.

The Royalists squandered a 2-1 lead at Fairford Town on Saturday before eventually losing 6-2 to their Hellenic Premier Division opponents.

The second-half dismissal of Danny Carr for two yellow cards capped off a miserable afternoon for the visitors and Woodham said his players are in need of a boost.

He said: “It’s easy to look at things and over-analyse when they are not going well. But we have still got 11 games to play and the message to the boys is we need to buck our ideas up a little bit.”

The club announced this week that midfielder Jack Denton, who played an integral part in their FA Vase run, has signed for the Missouri State Men’s Soccer team for the 2018/19 season.

Woodham paid tribute to the Cox Green Sports Academy player and said he would leave Stag Meadow with the club’s best wishes.

He added: “Jack came to us with that sole intention of getting a move to America and we knew he was here for a year.

“He’s been committed, he’s never missed a game, never missed training and he is an articulate lad as well.

“To have him for as long as we have has been a massive bonus and we can only wish him the best.”

After exiting the FA Vase at the quarter-final stage last month, Windsor will have their last chance for silverware tomorrow (Saturday) as they host Easington Sports in the Challenge Cup.

The Hellenic League Division One side will be only the fourth team to visit Stag Meadow in 2018.

“The fixtures are really pushing us at the moment,” Woodham said. “But we’ve got seven games to play in April, so we’ll see where that takes us.”
