A-State LB Melique Straker selected by Saskatchewan in 2024 CFL Draft
JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - More than a few Arkansas State standouts are playing in the Canadian Football League. Another Red Wolf is heading north of the border.
Melique Straker was selected by the Saskatchewan Roughriders Tuesday night in the 4th Round of the 2024 CFL Draft.
Straker recorded 216 tackles in 3 seasons with the Red Wolves. He also had 17 tackles for a loss, 4 pass deflections, 2 forced fumbles, & 2 interceptions. One of his INTs was a 87 yard pick-six in the 77-31 win over Texas State in 2023.
Six other former Red Wolves are currently on CFL rosters: Omar Bayless (Hamilton), Kyle Wilson (Hamilton), Kivon Bennett (Montreal), Cody Grace (Calgary), Money Hunter (Ottawa), and Justin McInnis (British Columbia).
