Results from Friday night at Riverside Speedway: Dale Richardson won the Henry’s Autopro 100, with Colby Smith second and Jeffrey Breen third. Brad Eddy crossed the finish line first but was disqualified in post-race inspection for a technical infraction.

In the Passione Flooring East Coast Mini Stock Tour 50, the top 3 finishers were Andrew Warren, Tim Webster, and Cody Byrne.

Tonight at Riverside, it’s the Bumper to Bumper 300 for the NASCAR Pinty’s series. Amoung those expected to take part include current series point leader and two-time series champ Andrew Ranger, second place in points Kevin Lacroix and local favorite Donald Chisholm. The race is set for 7:35 tonight. The Rev-it-Up Show and Shine begins at 1 this afternoon, and the Legends 50 will go at 6:15.


In the inaugural 12U girls baseball provincials being hosted in Antigonish, the local North Nova Highlanders lost their opener to Oxford 13-3.  In their second game the Highlanders fought hard, but eventually fell to the New Waterford Dodgers 13-12.  The Highlanders MVP in the first game was Mary Rose Lazzuri, and in the second game Jayden Sherman.  In the other game, the LWF Mystic beat the Hammonds Plains A’s 14-3.  Action resumes this morning at 8:30 on the Sandlot field with Oxford playing Hammonds Plains.  North Nova plays again at 12:30.


In their first game of the 2019 Softball Nova Scotia U-12 Provincials being played this weekend in Brookfield, the Antigonish Diamond Jaxx defeated the Highland Park Heat 15-0 in a game shortened by the mercy rule.  Winning pitcher was Tucker Broussard with relief from Andre Rovers.  Leading Antigonish at the plate was Parker MacLellan with a grand slam HR and was also chosen player of the game. Antigonish next sees action at 11am when they face the host Brookfield Elks. They will play the East Hants Mastodons at 1pm.


The X-Men Football team plays their first game of the season this afternoon, as they take on the St. Mary’s Huskies in an exhibition match at Oland Field at 2pm.


In Richmond Amateur Baseball, the Inverness Athletics play a doubleheader versus Louisdale beginning at 1pm at the Veteran’s Memorial Ballfield.


A big night offensively for the Eskimos. Trevor Harris threw three T-D passes and ran for two others to earn Edmonton a 41-26 win over the host Argonauts. Greg Ellingson had 10 catches for 170 yards and two T-Ds for Edmonton. DaVaris Daniels added five receptions for 155 yards.


The Blue Jays bats are still getting it done at the plate. Randal Grichuk and Vladimir Guerrero Junior hit back-to-back homers, while Derek Fisher and Danny Jansen both went deep to add to the home run tally in Toronto’s 7-3 win against the Seattle Mariners at Rogers Centre.

A federal appeals court has expanded a lawsuit by minor league baseball players alleging they are being paid less than minimum wage. Players sued major league teams in February 2014, claiming most earn less than $7,500 dollars U-S annually in violation of several laws.


Denny Hamlin will be the pole-sitter for today’s (Saturday) race at Bristol Motor Speedway. The reigning Daytona 500 winner bumped Kyle Larson to the other end of the front row. Larson is winless this season and is not locked into the 16-driver playoff field with three races remaining to fill seven slots. Martin Truex Junior and Kurt Busch will make up the second row.
