Bishkek to host XXII international athletics tournament

Bishkek, July 9, 2019. /Kabar/. Bishkek will host the XXII International Athletics Tournament for prizes of champion Tatyana Kolpakova, the press service of the State Agency for Youth Affairs, Physical Culture and Sports reported.

The competition will take place at the Omurzakov Sports Arena on July 13-14.

Athletes from South Korea, Philippines, Malaysia, Mongolia, Turkey, Moldova, Belarus, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, India, Sri Lanka and Kyrgyzstan are invited to participate in the competition.

Tatyana Kolpakova is a retired long jumper who represented the USSR and later Kyrgyzstan. She joined the USSR team in 1979 and competed for it at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. Kolpakova won the gold medal with her jump of 7.06 meters, which was a new record for the sport. She became the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR. After finishing her competitive career Kolpakova worked for some time as a coach.
