Yemen's Strategic Weapons Stockpile 'Beyond Imagination' as More European Warships Depart Red Sea

News - Yemen: Member of Yemen's Supreme Political Council, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, issued a stark warning to the United States, emphasizing Yemen's possession of a vast and potent stockpile of deterrent weapons.

In a post on X on Wednesday, Al-Houthi cautioned against any hostile actions by the US, asserting that Yemen's arsenal far surpasses Washington's expectations.

“Don’t play with fire. Everything you would expect from a strategic stock of Yemeni deterrent weapons, it is much, much more than you can imagine, in terms of quantity, quality and variety,” he said.

These remarks follow earlier reports suggesting US preparations for a large-scale aerial assault on Yemen.

Al-Houthi's statement coincided with an announcement by the Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman, revealing the targeting of two American destroyers and two Israeli ships in the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. This operation was conducted in solidarity with the Palestinians, amidst ongoing aggression against Gaza.

Yemen has emerged as a central player in the regional campaign against Israeli and US interests, actively seeking to halt the brutal assault on Gaza.

In recent months, Yemeni forces have either seized or launched drone and missile attacks on ships associated with the Israeli regime, the US, or Britain operating in regional waters.

Attacks on Israeli-controlled ports have intensified since October, coinciding with the onset of Israel's offensive on Gaza. Yemen has vowed to persist with shipping attacks until Israel ceases its aggression against Gaza.

Meanwhile, Dutch media reported significant advancements in Yemeni Armed Forces' capabilities to target distant assets. The recent drone strike on the Portugal-flagged MSC Orion container ship in the Indian Ocean exemplifies Yemen's expanded reach.

“It seems that the Yemeni army now has weapons with which it can attack targets in the Indian Ocean,” the NOS network said

The MSC Orion was struck on Monday, approximately 372.8 miles off Yemen's coast, while en route from Sines, Portugal, to Salalah, Oman.

Yemeni Armed Forces have also claimed responsibility for targeting three other vessels, including a container ship and two US Navy ships, in recent days.

Additionally, a Dutch warship, HNLMS Tromp, deployed in the Red Sea for nearly a month, is now sailing towards East Asia. This departure marks the second withdrawal of a European warship from the Red Sea after the failure of the EU's naval mission to confront Yemen's maritime operations in support of Gaza.

Germany had previously withdrawn a warship from the Red Sea earlier this week, following the EU's unsuccessful attempt to counter Yemen's pro-Palestine efforts.
